I found it energizing to surround a white board and effectively collaborate as a group. In fact, this one exercise accomplished more results than any of the individual attempts because it yielded both team understanding and team commitment to the project. I consider the activity of collaboration to be a critical success factor to CAT as well as <a href="http://www.provolabs.com">Provo Labs</a>. I realize this may seem rudimentary to many, but in the growing pains of a start up incubator, sometimes the pull of the thousand ideas keeps people from focusing on the actual process of how to make one idea actually happen. In February I decided to leave the world of opera, which I absolutely loved being a part of, to try something completely new – the dot com arena. Making a major life change is never easy, especially when you move to both a new location AND a new industry; but I know in my heart I made the right decision.<br /><br />I joined <a href="http://www.provolabs.com">Provo Labs</a> because I felt it combined the best mix of positive opportunities that occur in for-profit and non-profit environments. <a href="http://www.infobaseventures.com/blog/">Paul Allen</a> creates “mission-driven companies that promote faith, family, freedom, education, and philanthropy” and those values, combined with cutting-edge technology and quick idea implementation allow me to work in the type of setting I’ve been searching for.<br /><br />The result: I am working with teammates who are as committed as I am to making the project a success. With only 8 days under my belt, I have found that my strengths are not only relied upon but encouraged and will be utilized to their fullest potential. I thrive on acquiring knowledge and skills, and I’m being challenged with learning and doing more every day.
